↠´ Siren's Fury Ä Download by ↠´ Mary Weber Last year I tried to read Siren s Fury but ended up putting it down halfway through for a few reasons Back then I didn t have a co blogger, so I needed new content and this book was taking too long for me to read Literally nothing had happened in the plot except that my girl Nym had stowed away on an airship I was utterly, utterly BORED I am not one to say lightly that a book suffers from middle book syndrome but by the gods NOW I UNDERSTAND.
I put it aside with the plan that I d pick it back up again once I had time That was now.
Unfortunately I can t say that this book was worth finishing.
First of all, what I loved about the first book, Storm Siren, was Nym s Elemental training and her relationship with her friends and love interest While we get a repeat of the former a boring, repetitive, ongoing repeat we don t get the latter since all of her friends are dead or otherwise incapacitated.
I found Siren s Fury to be repetitive, with Nym and her allies talking incessantly about their plan rather than acting on it, being pushed around by guards except for one bizarre moment when Nym was allowed to walk free and obtain new powers that didn t quite make sense, talking about the plan, attempting to complete the plan and failing, talking, being pushed around, and failed attempts at the ultimate goal The plot was so thin it simply repeated itself over and over I lost count of the number of times she tried to defeat the villain and he simply swept her aside like a naughty puppy, free to give her another chance later one once she s rested.
Nym was frustrating because she made a lot of ill considered decisions She outright ignores advice offered to her, trusts the wrong people, allows herself to be put in bad situations and then feels sorry for herself as she angsts on why she behaved that way.
The loss of her Elemental power was supposed to be a secret, yet she wasn t treated with the respect such a dangerous prisoner deserves She was forever reaching for her hidden knives, which was no small movement, and she was forever fighting urges to kill people that had previously kicked her own butt She was given a new power if this is so easy, why don t people do this which she then had to train at, and the rules of her new power weren t explained She could pull ability and also possibly air from a person by touching them but also not touching them, she could pull air from a room yet the people she killed that way looked like they d been attacked by an animal there was no consistency here Also Myles speech impediment was inconsistent as fuck, too.
Add to this that Nym had a deadline to save her lover and her allies only seemed to make her want to wait for no reason at all Despite this deadline, there was no tension and no real major conflict Draewulf the villain isn t scary at all, in fact he seems to delight in tying threats up rather than killing them, and he loves a good old bantering session giving Nym plenty of time to attempt to defeat him He s about as scary as a Disney villain.
And the pacing was all over the place I was so bored reading this that I had to reward myself every time I finished a few chapters by reading another book I was enjoying.
Why did I do all of this Why did I bother finishing it if I didn t like it Well, Mary Weber blew me away with Book 1 and I have faith something from that book can be recaptured in Book 3.
PS There was a father son team introduced called Kenan and Kel This review was originally posted on The Moonlight Library DNF at 39% I hate to do this because I absolutely LOVED Storm Siren and even pre ordered Siren s Fury in hardcover because I was so sure I was going to love it, but I have to DNF.
I ve been reading this book for two and a half weeks and I ve only reached between one third and one half way through.
And in the story, literally nothing has happened except Nym s lost her powers and stowed away on a ship to the enemy territory.
It s the first part of the above sentence that is signing this book s death warrant I want to love this book because Storm Siren was so great, but taking away the one thing that made Nym interesting her power is really the biggest issue with this book Without her power, or even her still struggling to control it, or her mastering it and using it in petty ways, that s ruined the entire book I m just not interested in a storm siren with no storm to siren I don t care about Nym doing normal person stuff I want to see her using the power she learned to control to wreak havoc and kick ass.
I m really sad that it s the actual plot of the book that s boring me to death, but I have other books I ve fallen behind on reading because I thought this would be a quick one and it s taking me forever.
Farewell, Siren s Fury at 39%, and may we meet again someday when I can love you like you deserve.
Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for giving me this book to review.
Nym has saved Faelen with her elemental powers, but has discovered that the Draewulf is not dead as everyone believed, but has taken over the body of Eogen With Draewulf having destroyed her powers, Nym feels powerless and decides to sneak in with the delegates to Bron, with her new friend Rasha While in Bron, Nym tries to discover Draewulf s plans and Lord Myles offers her a chance to get new powers But is this new power worth the cost Siren s Fury is an enjoyable sequel to Storm Siren, but it did suffer from middle book syndrome It has action, suspense and magic but it does not have as much romance as the last book and is slower paced Nym has changed since the last book as she is much tougher and determined, but she does make a lot of rushed decisions and mistakes, however, her reasoning does make sense I did miss Colin in this book as he added charm and humour that was missing But I did really like Rasha as she really helped and supported Nym, but did act like they had known each other for than a few days This book ends on a smaller cliff hanger than the last book and I am looking forward to reading the next book I would recommend Siren s Fury to fans of the first book Storm Siren.
This and my other reviews can be found at Amethyst Bookwyrm Where to begin Sigh Okay, I have a confession It s not a pretty one It s not something I m proud of, but here goes I ve been in a fantasy reading slump.
I know, I know Stop shouting It s horrible The girl who loves to be whisked off to other realms, the one who dreams of magical wardrobes and happily ever afters, has not been in the mood for fantasy.
Excuse me while I hit myself repeatedly over the head.
I was terrified This has never happened to me before I mean, I ve never NOT been in the mood for a good fantasy story It was going to take a seriously FABULOUS work of awesomesauce to get me out of my slump.
Enter Siren s Fury.
Mary Weber weaves just the right amount of sass and kick a It s not cursing if I didn t type the actual word , into a deliciously written story readers will cheer for Nym is back, and she s done playing by the rules Willing to do whatever she must to save Eogan from Draewulf, Nym takes matters into her own hands, risking her own life to rescue another.
Move over Celaena Sardothein There s a new heroine in town.
There is an epidemic of whiny, boy crazy female leads in YA books Sometimes I just want to reach into a book and slap some sense into these girls Nym is a refreshing exception I don t know how Mary Weber does it, but somehow she manages to give me everything I want in a female lead Strong but feminine, flawed but not annoying Plus, the romance is still there everyone knows I love no NEED my romance , but it s not overdone The love story shines through without drowning out the rest of the book It s satisfying, but leaves me wanting.
And And Strong female heroine Check Swoon worthy romance Check Spectacular writing Check, check, and double check.
The world building in Siren s Fury will appeal to fans of the fantasy genre, but it s still unique and something all it s own I ll admit, a problem for me with high fantasy is that I get bored easily with long winded descriptions and too many names and places to remember But somehow Mary Weber has managed to keep the fast paced tone of a sci fi or dystopian, while still giving us a vivid, made up world you can t help but get sucked into It s never boring, just one chapter, OMG fiction of the highest degree This sequel lives up to it s predecessor I m pleased to announce my fantasy slump is over If it returns, I know just the cure after all, book 3 in the Storm Siren Trilogy releases in 2016 Disclosure I received Siren s Fury for review from BookLookBloggers I was not asked to write a positive review All views and opinions are solely and completely my own I received no compensation other than a copy of Siren s Fury , which is mine to keep or gift as I so choose Please note recommendations are just that, and are not meant to be the final word on age appropriateness and such.
Siren s Fury drew me in immediately How could it not after the insanely torturous cliffhanger of book one, right Like Storm Siren, this book was quite different from anything I ve read before I don t say it s for everyone It s pretty dark, and stuff surrounding the villain is pretty creepy So, if that s not your thing, then you probably won t enjoy it.
That said, I thought it was a fascinating book About three quarters of the way in, I wasn t sure what I was going to rate it because so much of it was so depressing, but the end, wow I thought the end was great Initially I gave the book four stars when I first finished, but considering the amount I thought about it afterwards, I ve decided to bump it up to five because of the ending.
What I particularly loved about the story was the lesson I took away from it Whether it was Mary Weber s intention or not, what I drew from it is the dangers of taking matters into your own hands and doing whatever you can, even if you ve been warned against it, to change something That was Nym in this book While she was doing it to try to save someone, she ventured into a lot of dangerous territory And that can be us, can t it We want something or want to change something so bad that sometimes we take matters into our own hands instead of trusting God for the outcome Such decisions can be disastrous and dangerous.
And my very favorite part of the book was right at the end view spoiler where it showed how love was powerful than all the evil and darkness hide spoiler Last year I tried to read Siren s Fury but ended up putting it down halfway through for a few reasons Back then I didn t have a co blogger, so I needed new content and this book was taking too long for me to read Literally nothing had happened in the plot except that my girl Nym had stowed away on an airship I was utterly, utterly BORED I am not one to say lightly that a book suffers from middle book syndrome but by the gods NOW I UNDERSTAND.

This second installment held me captive like the first hadn t quite managed to do I was completely invested in both Nym, Eogan, and Rasha s future not to mention the villain of the story, Draewulf Action packed, emotional, and keep you on the edge of your seat twists, this second installment was not a filler read by any means It held its own and made me side with those I never thought I would like and fall in love with those that I already did like.
Things are heating up, getting serious, and dire than ever before as Nym and her friend s fight Draewulf and try to bring peace back to the nations Nym is stronger, fiercer, and loyal than ever to those that she has come to trust, love, and bond with and I loved seeing how much she has grown as a person and as a warrior She has never had it easy and this book doesn t make it easy for her either but what she is, is fighter and I really to admire that about her.
So much happens in this that is was almost non stop action, tension, and mystery and I truly loved every minute of it I can t wait to see what happens in book three.
MY MIND IS BLOWN That was amazing.

I ll try to keep this review as spoil free as possible with it being the second book so it s a bit tough to not mention a few things to explain my feelings at the end of this one I will say I enjoyed the first book a bit than this one, it was still good overall but I found it a bit depressing with some of the things going on in the story Decided to go with 3.
5 stars for this one as I was still hooked on the entire story and wanting to know where this would go.
When finishing Siren s Fury I m definitely looking forward to seeing how the whole series wraps up in Siren s Song The world, the magic and the characters involved have me hoping for a really epic conclusion I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review For reviews please visit Aaaaahhhhh What a ride that was I love Nym She has gone through an incredible amount in these two books, and she s gained and lost so much along the way, but still she keeps going forward Even when I was worried about her choices, I admire her determination and her capacity to learn and fail and grow This installment takes place in a short time frame and is mostly focused on one task that is tied to that evil cliffhanger in STORM SIREN Along the way we get a broader look at this world and the different lands and people that inhabit it We learn a lot about the mythology and magic, and what evil Draewulf shudders is planning Nym spends time with Myles, who is complex than I expected I enjoyed getting to know Rasha better and I love Kel so much More of him, please This book was romantic too despite the horrifying circumstances certain characters are facing No triangles at all The end isn t as soul crushing as the last one It is happy in some ways and desperate in others Lots story to come and I cannot wait Full review to come.

3 Lots of things happening, lots of information, watch out, alert, help So yeah middle part was really slow but the beginning and the end were exciting to read A bit of a downer compared to the first book I d hoped for action now that they went to Bron and the Draewulf is on the move and all of that, but it was mainly sneaking around and trying to gather information And not in an exciting way view spoiler Also I kinda almost hoped that Eogan wouldn t survive Draewulf, because that would have made the motives in the next book even interesting hide spoiler
